I can't believe the day has finally come where I can officially announce that I am a certified yoga teacher. Eeek! 9 months of learning, practicing and training has paid off and I am now authorized to teach classes. I am both nervous and excited for the opportunity to guide students in a practice, and am anxious for my first class. I am not exactly sure where I want to teach yet, but the sheer fact that I am able to is crazy to me.

Leaving Zenya Yoga studio in Newport News was bittersweet. I was going to miss the instructors I have grown so close to and especially my fellow yogis. I wasn't expecting to get so close to these people, but the road to get here has been both emotional and physically trying. It's easy to bond with people who are going through the same thing you are. This is especially true when what you are doing is spiritual and potentially life-changing. Regardless, I was glad I wouldn't have to make weekly 3-hour each way trips down there from Leesburg.

The next step is for me to pay membership fees to the Yoga Alliance so I can be listed on their website, then start sequencing my first class. Not sure when or where that will be yet. You would think after 200 hours of preparation, I would be more than ready, but I'll probably need a couple of weeks for my nerves to settle down.
