Free Community Yoga Classes in Edwards Landing

Kaitlynn Stone Free Community Yoga Classes

Now that I am officially a certified yoga instructor, I've decided to start hosting my first classes! This is usually the time where newly certified yogis go out to seek positions at a gym or studio, however I am still feeling a little intimidated at the thought of people paying to take a class with me. I know it sounds ridiculous, but a part of me worries that my class would disappoint people. I'm struggling with the possibility of my classes being too difficult or too easy, leaving attendees feeling the opposite of what I want them to manifest during my practice.

With this in mind, I decided to start hosting free classes at the community clubhouse in Edwards Landing where my parents live. That way, no one can feel as if they wasted money by coming to my class and they can then make the decision to keep on coming if they enjoy themselves. I'm not new when it comes to attending yoga classes, and there are some that I get more out of than others.

I spoke with the HOA board and was granted a key to the clubhouse so I can begin morning practices without having to have someone let me in. Yesterday I went and checked out the spot to see what I'd be working with and was pleasantly surprised by the space. It was bigger than I imagined with a kitchenette and large seating area with a flatscreen and speaker system.

The hardwood floors were perfect and the aux speakers would be perfect for playing my playlist without having to bring in dinky little speakers. The only thing I would have to work around was the seating area which would be as easy as moving the couches and chairs, and returning them after class. I also figured I would also make use of the kitchen area by supplying water bottles and granola bars for my students.

Overall, I'm super excited to start, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't anxious. I decided to create a promo graphic that I could use for both print and digital marketing. I printed it out and pinned it to the enclosed events board that sits right outside of the pool, which was opening soon. My parents weren't super happy about my ink use, but since it's so bright, it would be bound to catch someone's attention walking by, right? An Eventbrite Page was also created in addition to a Facebook announcement by yours truly.

Hopefully people end up coming, and hopefully I don't screw up! Stay tuned...
